UDL Book Builder

Well...here it is my very first digital book.  I have to say that I really enjoyed doing this assignment.  I think I could have spent another three weeks on it and still not have been completely satisfied with the finished product.  The inspiration for the story came to me from my fifth grader who is currently doing a book report on Fanny Lou Hammer, a civil rights activist.  Since I have always been interested in social justice and diversity I thought it would make a great topic for my digital book.  This assignment would be for a middle school class either seventh or eighth grade.  The assignment would consist of each student creating their own digital book on diversity.   Inside and Out

  1. Awesome book. I really like the audio that you added to it. This is something I'm planning to add to mine in order to meet the needs of all students

  2. This is so cool! I love the way you started the book with different students reading and the way you present social justice and diversity. Excellent work! You can always go back to add more to your book. ^_*

  3. I was thinking of assigning it to students and having them make their own book - 5 pages or so and then everyone choosing their favorite page and making a digital book that the whole class writes together. I really like this technology. I learned how to do audio...I am so happy! The only thing I was concerned about was "Fair Use" I wish there was some place you could type in what you want to use and it would tell you if it is "Fair Use" approved or not. Is there such a place?

  4. Anne,
Your bookbuilder project is fabulous! It is really an example of incorporating multi-literacies, as you include traditional text, but also add images, wordle, audio, collage and song. Nice job! I am not sure of a site where you can type in what you specifically want to find out if it's fair use. However, I know that you can search for "royalty free" content (music, images) or "creative commons" content. Check out: http://search.creativecommons.org/

  5. Anne, I absolutely love your book. You expressed a belief system, that I am deeply passionate about, very beautifully. I like how different individuals read each line of the poem and then unified to read the ending. The topic is very relevant and very touching; great job. :)
